As a relatively new niche dating site, you might have issues finding an abundant amount of available singles on the platform. However, if you live in a densely populated city, you should be able to connect with singles in your age group.

But that score also factors in the user reviews, and there are only 10 of them (a very small sample size). Even more, it’s usually only unsatisfied customers that leave reviews, for the most part.
If there is one worry we have about 50sLove, it’s that member reviews complain about the cancellation process. Because the company is located in Austria, UK cancellation laws do not apply. So you will have to read the company’s cancellation policy carefully before paying for a premium membership to ensure you follow the correct steps. That being said, the monthly membership cost is relatively low compared to other niche dating sites for those over 50.

The first step when you visit the 50sLove homepage is to declare your sex and provide a valid email address and create a password. Next, you will select your date of birth from a dropdown menu. FYI, the latest year you can be born is 1982, which isn’t 50 years old and over, but they accept younger members as well. We suspect this is because members are also open to dating younger singles. You also might have people under 50 looking to date someone older.
Next, you’ll choose the age range of your preferred partner. You can choose any range between 40 and 100. Then select your marital status (separated, divorced, widowed, never married), followed by your education level, what your partner’s education level should be, your profession, height, and preferred height of your partner. We found it interesting that 50sLove also asks interesting questions like “what picture do you prefer” and “which is your favourite season?”
Finally, 50sLove wants to know your religion, your potential partner’s religion, and other personal questions regarding your satisfaction with your appearance, how attractive you want your partner to be, your ethnic group, your preferred partner’s identity, and so on. All in all, you will need to set aside 10 or more minutes to go through all the personal questions 50sLov asks about you and your preferred partner.

It’s difficult to find information regarding the number of members of 50sLove. As a niche dating site started in 2020, it’s fair to assume the number is much smaller than mainstream dating sites. When we logged onto the site as a male member from London, we received matches from members mostly in their 40s and 50s. Having set our age range from 40 to 80, it’s unlikely there are many members in the 60 to 80 range. This makes sense when you consider the name of the dating site and the demographic that would take notice.
Our favourite part about 50sLove is that each profile is full of information to help you determine if you want to reach out or not. You have the personal description in summary form, interests, and a short about myself snippet. But even more, you get full paragraphs that tell you about the person’s openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. These sections will help you figure out what type of personality someone has before deciding if they are the right person for you.

50sLove’s matching process involves showing you 10 matches that best fit the personality test you filled out when registering. You will notice that each profile gives you a value that tells you how well you fit together. Ratings go up to 100%.

In our experience, we had a message from another message right when we created an account. This can often be a red flag and mean that the website is sending you messages from a fake account to get your hopes up about the platform. That’s because it is unlikely that someone has already noticed your account the moment you created it.

50sLove doesn’t have an app and we couldn’t find anything that indicates they are creating one. However, the website works perfectly well on your phone’s browser. You can see your matches, messages, and visitors—everything you get on the desktop version of the site.
Conclusion
As someone that signed up in London, we found plenty of matches to contact. If you live in a less populated area and aren’t willing to date people far away, you might have a bad time on the 50sLove. But the dating site is still worth checking out because it’s free to join and send icebreakers. This will give you a better idea of how successful the site will be if you purchase the premium membership. Just make sure to carefully read the cancellation policy so you know what to expect if and when you want to discontinue your service.
