Signing Up for Once
To create an account on the Once dating app or website, you just need to use your phone number or Facebook account. If you sign up with your Facebook account, your profile name will be the same as your Facebook profile name. After that, you just enter some basic information about yourself.
You can also provide more detailed information about your personality and lifestyle, but you can skip this step and fill it out at a later time. There’s also a text box if you want to write something that other members can see. Once you’re signed up, the app will automatically present you with your first match.

Matching Process

Each day, you will be shown a new match that lasts 24 hours until the next one appears. You can check out their photos, bio, and other information in their profile. If you don’t like what you see, you can simply pass on them. If you are interested, you can Like their profile. If they Like you back, a chat box will appear and you start a conversation. If you really like them and want them to know that, you can send a “Charm,” which is kind of like a Super Like. Once you start a chat with another member, you can send text messages and photos, or start a video call if you are both online at the same time.
You also have the option of rating photos by giving them up to 5 stars. By doing this, the app remembers your preferences to help make better match suggestions for you in the future. The profiles shown here don’t always live in your area, and some aren’t even active. It’s just a good way to learn your preferences to help the algorithm. However, if you do find one that’s active and lives in your area, you can send them a chat request, and then start a conversation if they accept.
If you are presented with your daily match and want to send a message right away without mutually liking each other, you can do so by using a purchased “Crown.” If the person replies to your message, then a chat box will pop up and you can start a conversation. Crowns can be purchased a little at a time or in bulk for a discounted price.
